Relay For Life Music Video

On Friday, January 22nd, the Communications 333 (Music Video) class had a meeting to discuss the possible creation of a music video for Relay for Life. During this meeting, many great ideas were mentioned, but, much like any production, there is no way to possibly meet all of these ideas so the best of them must be chosen. Most of the ideas that I support and will be mentioning in the next paragraph were created by classmates during the meeting.

The first idea that I can think of for this video that I support, involves the use of a material that unifies everyone who is going to be filmed. I believe that the material should be a purple bandanna because they are inexpensive and easy to find. However, the idea of using purple glow-sticks was also mentioned, which I support for the finale of the video only if they will show up on camera well. Both of these materials serve the key purpose of unification. Unification is important because Relay for Life makes use of community involvement to fight cancer, therefore; it is important that the dancing people filmed for this video are also unified.

As far as choreography for the video goes, I do not see any huge point to it because the dancing is just to make the video fun. It is not like we are putting on some sort of major pop concert where everyone must be doing the same moves in perfect sync. I think the video may be more interesting if those being filmed do their own dances too because they would be more unique.

The only other thing I can think of is the fact that we must get everything in order quickly. However, we have been working on that so, hopefully, it all falls into place. This video has the potential to be a great class project and learning experience. The video will also convey a great message about uniting against cancer, an increasingly more common threat, in order to gain money for the research of potential cures.
